Comedienne Sarah Silverman told Extra that she “always liked him before it was even cool…He has charisma. He’s smart. He’s good. He talks like a person. He doesn’t sound like he’s yelling at you.”
The newly single Silverman joined Ben Affleck at last night’s poker tournament fundraising event where she joked, “I don’t really consider Ben a friend. I consider him an acquaintance. Do we hug when we see each other? Yes, that’s what celebrities do.”
Since he starred with Jimmy Kimmel in the popular Internet video spoof, I’m F****** Ben Affleck, Affleck has a different take on his relationship with Silverman. He said, “Well, I’ve been dating her ex-boyfriend [Kimmel] for sometime. Other than that, we get along really well.”
About participating in the poker tournament which benefits paralyzed veterans, Affleck stated, “That to me is what’s important about this and about my commitment and my presence here.”
When asked about criticism regarding celebrities getting too involved with politics, Silverman said, “I don’t necessarily see it [celebrity endorsement] helping. As a citizen I want to be here…I don’t think it makes a candidate by any means.”
Extra went one-one with Carly Fiorina, former head of Hewlett-Packard, McCain’s top advisor and the woman who could be his VP pick, at the GOP offices in Denver.
She told Diaz that celebrities’ opinions are highly overrated saying, “They [voters] make up their own minds. People are going to make up their minds based on their own situation.”
When asked about Madonna’s comparison of McCain to Hitler at a recent concert, Fiorina responded, “I think it’s outrageous. Madonna is free to do what she wants to do but it’s outrageous. It’s insulting… It’s insulting to millions of people who were slaughtered by Adolf Hitler.”
