Commenting on the state of crime in the US, The Killers frontman has thought about taking drastic steps to ensure the safety of his family.
Brandon said: "I don't have a gun, but when I leave my wife and baby at home I think about giving them a gun. It's like the UK's knife problem right now."
The 27-year-old rocker has a 13-month-old son, Ammon, with his wife Tana.
Brandon insists people should be able to defend themselves, explaining: "Well the original argument was that, in the American constitution, if you had a problem with the government you could have a gun to protect yourself from them controlling you - obviously things were a little different in 1776.
"Of course, in a perfect world there'd be no guns, but you have to live in the world that exists."
Despite voicing his opinions, Brandon - who has previously said he was "sympathetic" to US President George Bush - insists he has no political affiliations.
He added: "I'm different to people in most bands. I think a lot of people in bands do it because they're artists and they're supposed to be on the left. I've spent a lot of time trying to work out who I am and I always come back to the middle. I know as a singer in a band I should veer towards the left, but I don't."
