Shame on Amanda Beard! Perhaps, that is why she didn't qualify for any of the gold medals, because she is too worried about how she looks and doesn't care enough about winning the gold for the United States! Even though she said, she was kidding around, she should know she was on public radio and not 'everyone' knows who she is. Perhaps Michael Phelps isn't what you would consider a 'HUNK', but I'm sure he has qualities about him, that no 'hunk' would ever have and is a decent human being. However, Amanda Beard is obviously not that decent. How shallow she must be!! I live in Tucson and have lost total respect for Amanda Beard.

I wouldn't be surprised if Beard really believes Phelps isn't in her league, but why should he care? Considering the amount of money he stands to make from endorsement deals he will soon have his pick of smoking hot gold diggers who are more than willing to hold his hand, caress his medals, and touch just about whatever else he wants them to. Why would he be interested in a has been athlete four years past her glory days who's biggest claim to fame recently is that she posed for Playboy?

I pretty much thought that during the Olympics... the US team supported the US team! Not cool Amanda... you are a bad example to everyone as far as being a team player and a role model. OMG! Amanda Beard's comments were just plain rude. She could have simply replied 'no' or even added in that 'he is like a big brother to her'. She sounds very conseded. Phelps, from his brief interviews, seems like a charming, sweet, generous, and humble person. She must have no taste in men at all because Phelps seems like an incredible guy and swimmer with a great personality. Beard, if you read this, please be more considerate in your future responses to questions like that. Beard isn't even the finest woman out there so she shouldn't be talking.

Listening to this girl literally disgusted me. Her so called 'remorse' and regret of 'joking' is complete bull. She belongs in Playboy, maybe she should consider that for a full time career seeing as swimming isn't doing much for her. I saw the article, hardy believed it, and then of course realized she was stupid enough to say it.

I personally think he is ADORABLE and gorgeous, and he would turn my head if I passed him in the street on any normal day, regardless of fame. Not to mention what he has done with the time and dedication of the last four years...no matter how much we talk about it what he has done is truly amazing and something to be recognized.
Apparently Ms. Beard(what a name, maybe she has one?) is far too good and far too out of his league. Whether she finds him attrctive or not, or if any one else does for that matter, her remarks were rude, self-centered, and typical.
