Phil Collins has been ordered to pay £25 million in the biggest celebrity divorce settlement ever seen in Britain.

The Genesis singer must pay the staggering sum to his ex-wife Orianne Cevey, 35, who he split from two years ago.

The settlement exceeds the £24.3 million Sir Paul McCartney was ordered to pay Heather Mills and the £12.5 million Sir Mick Jagger had to pay his former wife Jerry Hall.

Phil, 57, had to pay his second wife Jill Taverman £17 million when they split 14 years ago, meaning the musician has now paid out £42 million - nearly a third of his estimated £140 million fortune - in divorce settlements.

His first marriage to actress Andrea Bertorelli ended acrimoniously in 1980.

Phil and Orianne met in 1994 when he was on tour and still married to Jill. They got married after five years together and have two children, eight-year-old Nicholas and four-year-old Matthew.

Since their break-up, the singer has been linked to US newsreader Dana Tyler.

Britain's biggest ever divorce settlement came in 2006 when London stockbroker John Chapman had to pay his ex-wife Beverley £48 million.
