Heath Ledger's father will open a bar in tribute to plans made by his late son.
The 'Dark Knight' star was set to open 'BrightSide' in New York before he died of an accidental overdose, and his father Kim has donated money to finish the project.
Jud Mongell, a friend and business partner of Heath, said: "He drew the floor plans, and thought of the name - 'BrightSide' - because it's on the bright side of McCarren Park.
"The whole idea was to make it a spot for us. We wanted to make it our own space to hang out."
Heath died in January and it is hoped the establishment will serve as a place to remember the 28-year-old actor.
A source said: "Everyone is really excited that Heath's bar will open soon. He played an active part in getting the project together."
John McCormick, who designed the interior, added: "He specifically talked about having a big table for him and his family to sit at. It was great working for Heath. He was the most unassuming guy."
