sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... was up here?
over and over..........
uh, you are wrong there little girl about the national guidelines (there are no national guidelines anyway). All the relevant organizations recommend EXCLUSIVE breastfeeding for 6 months, not 6 months total. At 6 months, solids may be introduced but breastfeeding should continue. The AAP (american academy of pediatrics) recommends a MINIMUM of 1 year and continueing past a year for as long as the mother and child desires. UNICEF, WHO and AAFP (american academy of family physicians) all recommend breastfeeding a MINIMUM of 2 years. The natural age of weaning is typically between 2.5 and 7 years. I in most countries, those not yet tainted by the formula companies messages, breastfeed freely and until their children decide to quit. This is what is normal. Formula is not the best food for an infant, in fact, according to the WHO guidelines, it is the 4th and last resort as a way to feed an infant.
I am killing myself laughing at the thought that you get your body back when you stop breastfeeding! But then I don't have a team of midwives and nannies to change my kids' nappies and play with them I guess!
