The photo of a frail and gaunt looking Paul Newman posted on Martha Stewart’s blog started a rumor mill churning that the legendary actor was near death.
Stewart responds, “He was fine. He was fine.”
In “Extra’s” new interview with Stewart, who’s promoting her partnership and upcoming Everyday Food cover shoot with Emeril Lagasse, she downplayed the reports that Newman’s health is failing.
She said, “He’s 83 years old and he’s a phenomenal creature. I mean, my God. [He’s] still racing cars…”
Stewart, who saw Newman a couple weeks ago, told “Extra” that posting the photo on her blog caused, “a big uproar…because a lot of people haven’t seen him, I guess.”
Despite the health reports that Newman is battling cancer, Stewart declared, “He is non-stop and he was just as lively and enthusiastic about everything he does.”
"Brothers and Sisters" star Sally Field expressed her thoughts about her "Absence of Malice" co-star, Newman.
She told “Extra,” “I love him to pieces…There’s really nothing I can say except I always think of Paul. Whether it be right now in his life or since I’ve known him. He’s in my thoughts all the time. He’s one of the great people I’ve ever known and better for ever having known him and worked with him. He’s a tremendous person.”
