The 70-year-old actor was ordered to return to Hollywood by his wife Lisa when she noticed he was altering his wardrobe to match his advancing years.
He said: "One morning, my wife Lisa noticed I was wearing a cardigan, and the next day, too, followed by slippers. So one day she just told me that, instead of dressing like a retired actor, I should go back to work. So that's what I did."
However, Dustin admits he is unwilling to change other parts of his life, and always makes sure he is in bed early so he can get up in the morning and make breakfast for Lisa.
He added to Italy's L'uomo Vogue magazine: "I'm in bed before 10. I prepare breakfast and take it to my wife. I've been doing that for almost 30 years!"
Dustin voices a character in new children's movie 'Kung Fu Panda' and can soon be seen starring alongside Emma Thompson in 'Last Chance Harvey'.
