New York - The Long Island mansion at the center of a dispute between rapper 50 Cent and his former girlfriend was destroyed in a fire Friday in what one firefighter said were suspicious circumstances.
Six people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation and were reported in stable condition. The blaze completely gutted the mansion and occurred while the violence-prone rapper was filming a movie on location in Louisiana. The fire broke out after a week of tense depositions between the rapper and Shaniqua Tomkins, the estranged mother of his son. Tomkins claims that 50 Cent (real name: Curtis Jackson) promised her the house over a decade ago.
One of the first firefighters to arrive at the house, Dix Hills Fire Department Chief Larry Feld, told Newsday, 'I would say there is a strong - a strong, strong - possibility that [the fire] is suspicious.' When asked why, he replied: 'The rapid movement of the fire. The volume of the fire ... It was engulfed. The home was totally gutted.'
