Actress Susan Sarandon has vowed to move abroad if Senator John McCain is elected to the Presidency of the United States.

Columnist Liz Smith reports that the comely Sarandon, who will be 62 this year, is not pleased at the idea of another Republican regime occupying the White House.

Sarandon, who has been working regularly in films like "Speed Racer" and TV movies such as "Bernard and Doris," for HBO, told Smith she won't have it.

Smith claims the outspoken liberal Sarandon says that if John McCain is elected, that she will move to Italy or Canada.

Sarandon tells Smith, "It's a critical time, but I have faith in the American people."

Every 4 years we hear this from the usual gang of idiots - Sarandon, Robbins, Baldwin, etc... They are so convinced of their self-importance and so full of pretentious self-righteousness (like most leftists) that they really think people give a damn what they do or do not do. Talk about ego.

If she's looking to escape a conservative McCain administration, it's strange she'd consider as her first choices Italy, where Berlusconi and his Forza Italia just regained the Prime Minister's seat, and Canada, where Harper and his Conservative Party also are in power. Thus is the ridiculousness of Sarandon. I remember there were a lot of celebrities in the 04 presidential election who said that if Bush was reelected, they'd leave the country. I don't think many of them did. Why are they still here? These celebrities....they talk the talk....it's time they walk the walk.

The problem is she will never actually do it. If Obama wins, she'll claim victory and brag that America now thinks like her (and hubby Tim Robbins) which sadly will only inflate their already bloated egos. And obviously they do have bloated egos -- I mean seriously, who cares if she makes a proclamation like this? What, the idea of America losing Susan Sarandon is supposed to make me vote for Obama? As if I just couldn't live without her (or him) being here? I have news for you, Susan (and Tim): I wouldn't even notice you were gone! And if beMcCain wins...and you can lay a Vegas bet on this...she'll never leave. They'll both turn right around and say 'Well, now it's our obligation to stay and fight the good fight some more' or some garbage like that. Sarandon and Robbins are all talk, no action.

What is it with these people who are proud of their country only if their cadidate is elected? M. Obama can join S. Sarandan in her quest for a country for which she is proud.

Sarandon leaving the country is all well and good but who cares? She's insignificant. I want people who matter to make that promise. For instance if the anti-american Hussein & Michelle Obama themselves promised it's either the White House or Canada then THAT would certainly insure I get to the voting booth to vote for McCain. The only hesitation I have is that I really shouldn't be wishing something bad on Canada...

That's fine with me Susan, Go right ahead. It's much more important for the people of my wonderful country to be defended from our enemies both foreign and domestic, as is called for as the responsibility of our commander-in-chief, than for Americans to give two shits whether Susan Sarandon and her family are within 5000 miles of the rest of us.
Knock yourself out, both you and Tim R. if you like and start packing right now. I myself plan not only to vote for John, a time-tested defender of this great country, but an experienced international advisor, but also to campaign hard for his election. Thank God we have more of a choice than the (very junior ) senator Obama or the very shifty and under-experienced Hillary Rodham Clinton!!!!!!

McCain is a damn war hero - for the guys knocking him, show some respect, what the hell have you done for anyone? For the guy blaming Bush for the recession - join the long list of Blame Bush for Everything coalition. The economic slow down (not recession) is caused because dems in congress won't let anyone drill for oil in this country, or build a refinery, or setup nuclear power - but force us to grow tons of corn for ethanol (which pollutes worse) - no room to plant rice or soy, corn/rice/soy prices go thru the roof, and oil and gas prices surge from worldwide demand - and the rest of the world starves. Sarandon can get the hell out now and eat up all the rice from other countries, and then she'll cause them to run out of food quicker, while she complains about their government, who inevitably will not allow her to speak because they don't have freedom of speech like they do here.

McCain a war hero ?Why?
For being shot down in yet another undeclared war, bombing a country that neither declared war on the USA,nor attacked it .
At least Susan dares to speak out on her opinion, exactly like most people here attacking her,SP4 as usual first to throw mud .It would be so easy and profitable for her to behave like a clone of Paris Hilton or one of the other bimbos that never attract the republican thunder .
Just like every American she has the right to an opinion. It seems her opinion is far more intelligent than the insults the retarded republicans throw at her .Sarandon is more of a hro than McCain who did nothing except being shot down and held in captivilty, kust like the prisoners in Guantanamo. Are those heros maybe ?Well???
