Joining the ranks of President George Bush and Senator John Kerry, singer songwriter Paul McCartney received an honorary degree from Yale University.
He received a Doctor of Music degree from the University today.
To the strains of "Hey Jude" - the former Beatle accepted the degree at the university's graduation ceremony.
McCartney, 65, was honored for providing a generation with his lyric and song of "rock, roll, rhythm and blues."
"Here, there and everywhere, you have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics," said Yale President Richard Levin. "We admire your musical genius and your generous support of worthy causes."

He should give the honorable doctor degree back.
He can´t play each chord, he is only clever.
But he can play per example the song 'yesterday' now
every day. To the melody of this song he got the degree.
By the way for explanation, you call the man clever if he cheats and plunders his friends.
