Magazine founder Hugh wants Robert to portray him in 'Playboy' - which focuses on the early years of the adult publication - after being impressed by his performance in 'Iron Man'.
A representative for Robert said he is interested in the project but is unlikely to commit until a script is completed and a director is named.
No shooting dates have been scheduled, but it is reported that producers are looking to start work in Chicago next summer.
However, Robert is set to start shooting 'Iron Man 2' some time next year, ready for release in 2010, which may prove to be a scheduling conflict.
The actor recently revealed he would definitely reprise his role as Tony Stark in a follow-up movie.
He said: "I'm really proud of the movie, and the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow and Terrence Howard, and Jeff Bridges all showed up.
"I'm certain that all of us will be back to reprise our roles. It's cool. It's kind of like a really big ass series."
