The man who had the worst cinematic haircut in recent history for "No Country For Old Men" has bowed out of director Rob Marshall's feature musical, "Nine."
Variety reports that Bardem claims he is exhausted from the past year's workload and hectic awards-season schedule.
Bardem, who took the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Anton Chigurh in the Coen Brothers' No Country, was set to play Guido Contini, the lead character in Nine.
The movie premise is a lothario director who must juggle women in his life. The Weinstein Co. movie is an adaptation of a stage musical inspired by Fellini's movie 8 ½.
Bardem just wants some time off to regroup from his momentous last year.
This is the second departure from a major film, following the announcement that Carmen Maura replaced him in Francis Ford Coppola's family drama, "Tetro".
The film "Vicky Christina Barcelona" directed by Woody Allen will feature Bardem.
