Uma Thurman will testify Tuesday, April 29, in a New York City court, against the 37-year-old loony man who has been stalking her for years - even following her to her home and on the set of her movies.
Thurman will testify in Manhattan criminal court later on Monday or early on Tuesday, Reuters reports citing court officials.
Jack Jordan, a 37-year-old man from Maryland, is accused of stalking the actress for two years, from early 2005 to the time of his arrest in fall 2007. Prosecutors said in court he had tried to communicate with the actress “with the intent to harass, annoy, threaten and alarm.”
Reuters reports that Jordan even tried to contact Thurman’s father and brother by sending them emails and or waiting around on the steps of her Manhattan apartment or sleeping outside her house in a car.
Jordan also allegedly threatened to commit suicide if the actress was involved romantically with anyone.
Lawyer George Vomvolakis emphasized that his client is a troubled man who “does not think the way you and I think.”
“He loved her and possibly still does. He never wanted to annoy her, threaten her or alarm her. Creepy? Yes. Obsessed? Yes. Criminal? No,” was Vomvolakis opening statement.
“He doesn't know the boundaries you and I know,” he told the jury.
Jordan is free on $10,000 bail. If convicted, he faces only one year in jail.
