Mariah Carey says her failed marriage was like being kidnapped in a "golden cage".
The 'Touch My Body' singer, who was married to music mogul Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998, admits her biggest regret in life is tying the knot too soon.
She said: "I think one of my mistakes was getting married so young. I got married to Tommy Mottola under a lot of pressure.
"I don't know how you would describe my marriage. It was a kidnapping in a golden cage. I look at the past and keep the memories. There have been bad and good times."
The 38-year-old star also revealed her mother showed the true meaning of being a diva.
Mariah added: "I learned the word diva from my mother when most people didn't know what it meant. I know the real word diva. The true diva. She worked so hard to support us."
The music star admits she loves being a sex symbol, explaining: "I want to be lasciviously adored. Everyone likes to be loved. You have to try and stay pretty."
