Vintage 2003 - Joan Collins - © Lee Roth / RothStock / PR PhotosThe New York Post excerpted a nugget from an interview conducted by celebrity glossy rag BlackBook which printed Joan's tabloid opinions.Collins tells the magazine, "we're turning into a world of idiots - thanks in large part to magazines like the one she is being interviewed by.Joan says, "Our civilization has become extremely dumbed down, with shorter attention spans. All they want are sound bites," the former Alexis Carrington purred."The tabloid magazines are the same every week. People has the same cover as InTouch as OK! as Us Weekly as Star magazine. They're exactly the same! It must be 100 to 120 people you read about all the time." "They are appealing to a young audience, or a rather dumb audience," Collins muses. Joan adds that the magazines go for the easy Tuna to reel in: "(they) go after those girls who exhibit more outrageous behavior. And, believe me, those girls love it. They call in items themselves - that they were at Nobu, some nightclub in SoHo. I can't think of anything more horrible than that. Publicity can be a drug." Joan is the daughter of a South African Father and and English Mother, and has two siblings: Actor Bill Collins and mega-selling author Jackie Collins. Joan won a Golden Globe Award i 1983 for her role on "Dynasty."Currently in her fifth marriage, Joan hawks a line of Joan Collins accessories and sunglasses and is the spokesperson for cosmeceutical company, Cellex-C
