Jessica Simpson "couldn't be happier" for newly-engaged sister Ashlee.
The 'Dukes of Hazzard' actress is thrilled her younger sibling is marrying Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz and believes they are perfect for each other.
She said: "My sister is overflowing with joy. Pete is an incredible soul. They naturally bring out the best in each other. I couldn't be happier."
Meanwhile, Ashlee's dad Joe Simpson has confirmed Pete, 28, asked him for his blessing before popping the question.
Joe said: "Pete did ask. I told him that I would be honoured to have him as part of my family."
It has also been claimed the couple - who have been dating since 2006 - decided to tie the knot because Ashlee, 23, is pregnant.
Ashlee's representative refused to confirm the rumours, and when asked if the star was expecting her first child, she would only reply: "Engaged."
Last month, the 'Pieces of Me' singer laughed off reports she was planning to get married and start a family.
She said: "Questions and false rumours about being pregnant, being engaged, etc., are not fun to answer every single day. Eventually I try to just laugh them off."
