“Extra” has obtained the first public response from the representative of Jessica Gibson, the nanny caught in the middle of Rob Lowe’s lawsuit.
It states, “Our complaint will speak for itself. Everything in the complaint is true. We do not need the media to win the case.”
Many observers accuse Lowe of aggressive defense. By blogging on Huffington Post, he gets to frame the story and shape public opinion before the nanny or other employees can reach out to press to tell their side.
Lowe claims he’s the victim of alleged extortion, but refuses the help of law enforcement officials, who offered to open a criminal investigation. When the police get involved, Lowe could lose control of the story spin.
Many on the inside note that victims of extortion refuse police help when they want to handle the matter privately, usually by meeting the blackmailer’s demands, so nothing reaches the press.
But Lowe made his own headlines, guaranteeing the details of the scandal would become public, but the fact that he doesn’t want police help after airing the situation publicly rings sketchy. TMZ claims Lowe and his attorney didn’t want police help because it would cause the three ex-employees to go silent.
Lowe claims the nanny breached her NDA by talking about what goes on inside the Lowe home, but no NDA can prevent the testimony of illegal acts.
Lowe went forth with major lawsuits against his ex-staff, is it an attempt to silence his former employees by punishing them with a mountain of legal defense fees, which their salaries probably couldn’t come close to covering?
Reportedly, all these employees worked for Lowe for many years, and all quit abruptly. Even Lowe says nanny Gibson gave no reason for quitting after seven years.
