Cameron Diaz and Gerard Butler enjoyed a double date with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal last weekend.
The foursome met at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel just after midnight for a very late dinner, laughing and joking together into the early hours.
A source said: "They arrived at 12.30am and grabbed a table on the patio. Cameron snuggled up to Gerard and rested her head on his shoulder. Jake and Reese were really cute together too, joking a lot and just very comfortable with each other."
Cameron - who has reportedly enjoyed a string of dates with Scottish '300' star Gerard over the past fortnight - entertained the group as they drank red wine with their appetisers and main courses.
The source added to Life and Style Weekly magazine: "Cameron was the centre of attention. Reese threw in an occasional wisecrack, but Cameron was really on a roll."
However, while Cameron and Gerard were happy to let the world know they were an item, Reese and Jake - who met on the set of 'Rendition' last year - remained more reserved.
The insider said: "Cameron and Gerard held hands under the table, but Reese and Jake were slightly less affectionate."

I hope you are right betagirl...She has a new movie coming out in May
and she always finds away...To have the gossip swirling around her..
..GB has always been private about his relationships even his sexually..As along time fan..He's to much of a class act..to be caught up in all of this..To work so hard..This guy has been in Hollywood for over 15 years...And now people like Cameron Diaz and others are just now noticing him..They may been @ the same party that Friday Night But People Mag. has with her with Sean Combs on Saturday Night..Either it
was just professional with GB ..or she's a slut... I'm in the entertainment business...and I have seen it happen so many times...

PS and Nim's Island did moderatly well... But he's not a household name yet..Well I guess he is now..But it's not because he's cool..and a good actor...And that's ashame...

As far as we have heard, they were at a party for Robert Downey Jr., and weren't even with Reese and Jake, although all were at the party. Come on! We are quoting Life and Style here! And the original rumor started with the Mirror. Less than reputable. Even in the little footage of them at the Chateau, which was described as 'intimate, touchy-feely, romantic' there really was no chemistry to be seen. They looked like they were at a business meeting. They're probably making a movie together!
