Mark Ronson says Amy Winehouse is one of his "favorite people".
The Grammy Award-winning producer admires Amy for her talent and sense of humour, and says he is glad to have been there to support her through her recent troubles.
He said: "Amy has been through a hellish time and I'm glad to have been there with her and have stood next to her on the stage at the BRITs performing 'Valerie'. She is a great girl. People love her because, despite all the rubbish that's written about her, they know she's famous because she is talented, not because of the horror stories.
"She is one of my favorite people. She's witty, strong and she has got that old/new thing going on, like me."
Amy, 24, has suffered high-profile problems with alcohol and drugs.
In January, she entered a London rehab facility after footage was released of her allegedly smoking crack cocaine.
