Victoria Beckham's designer dresses

Victoria Beckham is creating a limited edition clothing range with fashion designer Roland Mouret.

The Spice Girls singer is working with the celebrated Frenchman in a London studio to develop a range provisionally titled the Little Black Dress collection.

A source said: "This is going to be immense for Victoria. Her denim and sunglasses ranges have been hugely successful but this takes her profile to another level.

"Roland Mouret is a hugely credible designer. For him to agree to team up with Victoria proves she is a real fashion force to be reckoned with in her own right, and not just a celebrity name."

The source added to Britain's Hello magazine: "They spoke regularly while Victoria was on tour with the Spice Girls and he has been highly impressed by her ideas so far.

"She can't believe she has finally achieved her dream of becoming a fully fledged fashionista."

The collection will comprise 10 designs, and will be stocked by only a handful of elite retailers, with stores such as Fred Segal in Los Angeles and Colette in Paris rumoured to have expressed strong interest.

In 2006 Victoria was seen wearing Mouret's 50s-style Galaxy grey dress, and the following year donned his skintight Moon dress in hot pink for her first appearance watching her soccer star husband David play for Los Angeles Galaxy.

In January, she looked stunning in a Mouret Neptune dress.
