Amy Winehouse has followed in Madonna's footsteps by purchasing a £7,000 Power Plate.
When the troubled singer moved out of her east London apartment recently, removers were spotted loading the vibrating 'Miracle Machine' into their van.
Manufacturers of the Power Plate claim the machine, which requires users to stand on a vibrating platform for 15 minutes, provides the same level of calorie-burning as a lengthy workout in the gym.
A spokesman said: "Power Plate offers the benefits of regular exercise - a toned body, better flexibility, improved circulation which helps reduce the appearance of cellulite, increased stamina and improved fitness and well-being."
Amy's friends and family are reportedly hoping her recent stint in rehab changed her attitude to food and exercise as well as drugs and alcohol, as she has recently been spotted looking thin and gaunt.
One friend said: "Amy was getting scarily obsessed with exercising, and having a Power Plate in her flat didn't help. She was using it about three times a day - it was getting ridiculous."
