..an utterly fabulous concert. I've been to some of these 70's bands who are touring and, while they are good, not many of them can reproduce their sound as well as Van Halen has.
Hopefully, a meaningful album...soon.

I like V/H but I saw Eddie during the 0u812 tour. Eddie made whale noises with his guitar ( like Moby Dick -whale- ) I was looking for eruption and I got sonic noises that hurt my ears and was not impressed at all. I know music my friend. I play guitar- I am good.
I play both V/H numbers and AC/DC numbers. Guess which are easier?
If you said Angus' you'd be wrong.
Here are some examples....compare the solo on the album '' If you want blood you got it '' in the song '' Let there be Rock '' it's live by the way. To any Eddie live solo from whatever period. You shook me all night long to Eruption. Thunderstruck to Poundcake.
Eddie is a showman....an ostentatious snob...Look how good I play kind of guy.
Angus is a true all around solid player with genuine musical sensibilities. He goofs off but never shows off.
He's an honest guy as opposed to Eddie who is a HAM.
I sill like V/H and will continue to rock out but really....c'mon.
Anyone can play like Eddie. Angus is a MAESTRO. If you knew music you'd understand and believe me. But being a V/H fan and an average observer rather than a trained musician...I know you won't.

Man for me i have never really compared the two but they both jam in different ways like the porche to the corvette.Personnaly Angus is more solid all around im 39 and i lived alot of parties with both band blasting in the background and i have to say i love both for different reasons.Butt if i had a chance to meet either one it would be angus he is more real.

Angus' tecniques are based in blues origin and he does more with his left hand than any player has ever done.
Just listen to Shoot to thrill or Shake a leg. I'm not kidding you'll here more intricate work then anything Eddies ever done. The chord changes and the progressions are genius. Exept for eruption? I have never been impressed by Eddies playing. Sorry as an expert I know what I am talking about.
If you argued Randy Rhoades is better I might pause but really...............Eddie has never gotten along with anyone. He married a fat bitch and they have a fat son and he stabbed Michael Anthony in the back. He's got cancer and he takes drugs and he's an addict and a cheater and a back stabber.

I grew up in the 1970s so I think I know a little bit more about it than you do. I have played guitar for 40+ years, 17 of which were playing professionally. It is my experience that great guitar players have their own style. Eddie Van Halen certainly has the most unique style of anyone who plays six string guitar. While I concede that Angus is a great guitar player with many hits to his credit, he is not a guitar hero. But more a mediocre rock guitarist. While both have created unforgettable hits, if it were to come to cutting heads, Angus would lose hands down. I recently saw Eddie in concert. Although, I don't think he was 100%, he wowed the audience with his ability to play. Most were in awe of his presence. If you want to know what guitar he was playing, it was a Pevey Wolfgang. A new model that I have never seen. He did play the Frankenstein and a Charvel. These are world famous made famous by Eddie Van Halen. Angus plays one guitar. The gibson SG. He doesn't have guitars specially made for him. This says something about the two. One is a primadonna and the other is a mediocre guitar player. I have had the priviledge of playing with great guitar players and I know the difference between a great guitar player and a good guitar player.
So, in closing, get a life, get a grip and go to back to school.

Another thing is this....Eddie built and cut all his own guitars. By himself. He did not have them specially made. HE MADE THEM.

Eddie is a great innovator and has created some very unique sounds with his tricks. But That is all just semantics.

I go to Monsters and critics to read news about the world and celebrities. That is why I am not out playing right now. BUT I played last night I finished at 3 AM which was really 4 It's 6:30 now and I'm hungover. I drink like 30 beers a night when I play.
I'm not bragging but a person can make a living playing bars and clubs.

That message was titled BOYS (plural) because it was to both AC/DC fan and Just get out. You are both acting like a couple of teenagers! (I know because I am raising some.) To be quite clear Angus Young, my friends, sucks like Brittney Spears. Steve owns Angus and so does Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and various others. Angus sucks and he is not a virtuosoe just an imbecile. AC/DC is not all that great, kind of like Hanson, but worse. Their lead singer sounds like a raccoon getting raped. Seriously.

I never bought a Steve Vai album because his music does not make sense. There is no melody and he's all over the board. It sounds like all he's doing is one scale after the other. It's not music...it's practice. Give him 10 more years he'll be as good as his mentor.

I just watched 3 Steve Vai videos on you tube....I have this to say.
He needs his own sound. He sounds like Eddie. I thought I was listening to V/H. He has one trick The BEND in combination with the bridge stretch with the use of his whammie bar. He is every bit as good as Eddie..but no better. Honestly..you have to like that stuff to be impressed by it.
Angus young does not use a whammie he does not bend the hell out of a note to get a horsie sound out of it or a whale noise.
He plays every variation of 3 chord rock and roll with 6 minors and 6 majors in thousands of combinations. He has his own sound. It's his.
Nobody else sounds like Angus. Steve sounds like Eddie. If I had to pick a favorite from those two I'd pick Eddie.

Another tour was called off due to Eddies health issues. I love the fact that he made an attempt. But c'mon man you've got cancer issues and rehab issues from drugs and painkillers due to the cancer issues.

Realistically Neither Van Halen or Angus Young are great guitar players. They are however great rock guitarists and Van Halen did more to change rock guitar than Angus ever thought of. Yes, they are tricks that anybody can learn but they you didn't here Angus doing them and still don't. In fact he's still using the same for chords and most of the time they aren't even full triads. If you want ot hear a great guitar player Listen to Al Dimeola or Wes Montgomery or Andre Segovia (R.I.P.). These are great guitar players and let's not forget Steve Vai either. Rock is not meant for great technical players it's meant to be fun and both Young and Eddie are GREAT fun!!!
All very good points. You left out Jango Reinhart. If Eddie wanted to play like Steve he could. If Angus wanted to learn tricks and stunts he would. People do what they like. Players play how they like. Fans listen to whatever pleases their particular ear.
I am not out to insult you but Steve Vai bores me to tears. His David lee Roth stuff is his best. To me. That's my opinion and only makes me happy. The rest does not matter.
angus young is with out a doubt a guitar god and his talents are un questionable. Eddie isnt showing off he is just pooting on a great show which angus cant do without rolling on the ground. Eddie achieved his sound for him because he liked it, not so people would like it. Angus uses only distortion and no flanger or phaser, not to mention AC/DC song are no where near as complex as van halen songs. all AC/DC is is a chorus and a verse and a solo. Van Halen songs are more rythmic and just cooler there is no one who ever has nor ever will come close to having the ability of eddie. he is a musical genius and an inspriation to all. being an AC/DC fan you wouldnt under stand. Eddie is the greatest, period!!!!

I like to play the Angus songs because when you are in the middle of a song and you feel the rythm going through you...only Santana has one up on Angus as far as GROOVE goes. Nothing like getting lost in the music man....nothin'!
i completely disagree. practice doesnt make perfect, because perfection does not exist. every one is unique, they are who they are, and their music should be the same way. sure every one has heros and wants to play like them but no matter how hard you try you still play like you. No one on earth can play the same wat eddie does because they arent eddie. same with angus young. i too am a guitar player capable of playing both ac/dc and VH but i would rather play vh because of the complexity of it and personaly i dont think angus' soul is in his playing. eddie is all soul his music is a part of him, thats why i listen to him and play his stuff. every note every sound every little insane thing eddie does asn't for a cool sound, its for him. because he had the desire to make that sound.

GOOD NEWS- AC/DC is just about to release their latest album it's currently in the mixing and editing stages. There will be a world tour and I will see every NY show as I always have. By the way I was at Donnington. Air force business.
The Bad news is - Last I heard Eddie checked in to a rehab clinic for some r/r cancelling a few tour dates.
Eddie your fans need you man- shape up or retire pal- no one wants you to kill yourself trying. You have to be healthy DUDE!
