War of the after-parties: Elton versus Madonna

Elton John was reportedly "livid" that Madonna decided to throw a last minute Oscar party, says blogger Perez Hilton.

Elton's party was allegedly supposed to be the hot party (after the Governor's ball) of the Academy Awards this year.

Enter Madonna and her last minute party plans.

Hilton claims that John's party drew a crowd of B and C-lister, like J.C. Chasez, Lionel Richie, Simon Cowell, Larry King and Sean Penn.

Madonna's soiree was a star studded A-list affair.

"Elton DESPISES Madonna and this has made things way worse," a Hilton source claims.

Madonna's spectacular party was held at Guy Oseary's Westside Hills home Sunday night and had the likes of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Eva Mendes, Owen Wilson, Christian Slater, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi (who came from Elton John's fund-raiser), Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz, all of whom boogied to music by DJ JusSke.

At Prince's party later on, Sean Penn and his new gal pal Petra Nemcova held hands and "snuck kisses" for hours, said a Page Six spy.

Best Supporting Actor winner Javier Bardem changed into beat-up jeans, an old T-shirt and baseball hat for the party, but still carried around his Oscar. "He played pool for hours," according to our witness. He also danced with Penelope Cruz, who stayed in her gown all night.
