The 35-year-old actress revealed she regularly held up filming on gore-filled thriller 'Waz' because she couldn't hide her emotions during the bloody scenes.
She said: "They kept having to cut away from my face because I couldn't stay in character. I couldn't be disgusted in the movie so it was a difficult movie for me to shoot.
"You're talking to someone who couldn't even dissect a little pig in seventh grade, and that was after all the blood had been drained out."
Selma says she is keen to take a break from horror movies and land a role in a "non-gory" period drama.
She added: "I just need to appear in a period piece really soon. A lavish, beautiful, non-gory period piece."
In 'Waz' Selma plays a woman who is raped and tortured, then told she can only end the ordeal by authorising her attackers to kill her mother instead.
The film, which also features Swedish star Stellan Skarsgard and 'Derailed' actress Melissa George, will hit cinema screens later this month.
