Colin Farrell says it is a "painful honor" to replace late actor Heath Ledger in 'The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus'.

The Irish actor - who will share Heath's remaining scenes in the fantasy epic with Johnny Depp and Jude Law - is honored to have been cast in Terry Gilliam's film, but still finds it difficult to believe Heath is dead.

He said: "I will be honored to be part of that. It makes me feel uncomfortable to think about it too much and to get into it, but it's an incredibly painful honor to have, an honor I wish wasn't bestowed, but an honor none-the-less."

Colin also revealed he was concerned the film wouldn't be finished following Heath's death, and felt it was important for people to see the actor's final performance.

He added: "It's about getting Heath's work out there. He is too good for any of his work not to be seen, and I'm really keen and looking forward to doing it and just doing the best job I can do."

Heath died on January 22 aged 28 of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
