It was tacky and boorishFeb 15th, 2008 - 20:35:02

A lady would never, and I mean never, publicly insult another performer like that, especially another woman. It was trashy, immature, and downright catty. What's the matter? Are you jealous of pretty Beyonce? She behaved as though she was a ghetto gang banger, not a classy rich gal in a limousine. So sad she's turned out to be a classless scum. The least she can do is appologize, even if the appology is a lie.

Disappointed

Aretha Franklin has a right to be upset! Franklin earned her title as Queen of Soul the hard way, years of toiling/traveling through racist and dangerous America, honing her skills as a singer and developing a style that would be emulated by countless other singers, male and female.

When she was crowned Queen of Soul, it was a big deal. That title gave millions (black & white) something to think about. To receive a title like that was like being glorified as true royalty.

All over the world, no matter where Aretha travels, she is known as The Queen. The term is translated into the language where Aretha is written about and discussed, but when that term is used, the name of Aretha Franklin goes with it. In Italy, she is known as 'Regina del Soul,' In France, 'Le Magnifique.'

To introduce another superstar, Tina Turner, as 'the queen' confused many viewers. I, for one, got several calls from other miffed fans who asked: 'did you hear that?'

Tina is rightfully referred to as 'The Queen of Rock,' but her title pales in comparison to Aretha's.

Franklin has got to be given the RESPECT she so richly deserves and not to be 'bitch slapped' by a young lady (Beyonce) who doesn't even have a title. It takes a LOT of nerve to introduce ANOTHER performer as 'The Queen' when Aretha Franklin (the real one) is backstage looking at the monitor. Plus, it's not wise of Beyonce's father to get his daughter in a pickle with someone as revered as Aretha.

This whole thing is just stupid. Aretha was out of line, and unprofessional. You don't behave that way towards other in public. And by the way, NONE of them are royalty. They're just singers for gods sakes. Relax with the 'queen' crap!
