Sir Paul McCartney is ready to offer estranged wife Heather Mills £30 million to "get her off my back".
The Beatles legend, who arrived at London's High Court for the third day of his divorce battle with Heather yesterday (13.02.08), is said to have instructed his lawyer Fiona Shackleton to increase his original £10 million settlement offer.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Paul was very irate and told his lawyer, 'Offer her £30 million and get her off my back.' His lawyer replied, 'We will have to see about that.' "
Heather, who wore a black pinstriped trouser suit and lime green shirt to court, instructed her minder to wheel a giant box of hate mail into the hearing yesterday.
The 40-year-old vegan - who is representing herself in the settlement - claims marrying Paul, 65, ruined her life and she has become the victim of a vicious campaign by Beatles fans.
A source said: "She read out messages from before she wed Paul which praised her charity work. Then she read out the hate mail sent after the split. She was determined to make an impact. She feels her reputation has been destroyed and she has been made to look like a villain. She believes the judge should take that into account when deciding how much money she is awarded."
Heather is reportedly demanding a £60 million cash pay out, along with at least two homes, two nannies, medical cover, a personal trainer, household staff and a secretary.
The pair, who split in 2006 after four years of marriage, are believed to have reached an agreement about security for Heather and their four-year-old daughter Beatrice.
The five-day hearing is due to end tomorrow (15.02.08).

She destroyed her own reputation for being a gold digger. I suppose this is her only chance at making money, honestly anyway.
