Janet Jackson talks a blue streak

Daddy's infidelities, what advice would be given to Britney Spears and even talk of sexual threesomes was the order of the day for a loquacious Janet Jackson.

Janet Jackson, a five- time Grammy winner opened up to Extra about her relationship with boyfriend Jermaine Dupri, her admiration for her long-suffering mother, her opinion about Britney Spears and the salacious lyrics of her new album, Discipline.

Boyfriend Jermaine Dupri has been on the arm of Jackson for many years but she admits that this love came unexpectedly. 

She revealed to “Extra” that she planned to be single, “probably having a baby or something out of wedlock.” She continued, “I was down with that. Adopt a couple of kids. I was cool with that and then here comes Jermaine…my little Tasmanian devil.” When asked if the couple would wed in secret, Jackson responded, “If I were to get married, Jermaine is going to let the entire world know!”

Jackson also tells “Extra” that she admires her mother saying, “She’s just a beautiful woman and very strong.” Jackson also opens up about her father’s infidelity and finding out that he fathered another child out of his marriage.

She admits that although her mother stayed with her hubby, Jackson might not have done the same. “The times are different and the message back then was, ‘Stick with your spouse regardless of what you were going through.’ I think that is important to a certain degree but when is enough, enough?”

Growing up in the public eye, Jackson can somewhat relate to the life of Britney Spears but admits she doesn’t understand it. “I don’t think it’s fair for people to be so judgmental because we don’t know what they’re [young actors/musicians] feeling. You read what people want you to know or want you to think but to really know what’s going on in her heart and soul and her mind; no one knows that unless they were to sit down and possibly, hopefully, speak to her. Then, maybe they’d be able to understand a glimpse of it, ” she says. 

The lyrics of Jackson’s new album, Discipline, harken a bit of the late funkmeister Rick James in their kinky mentions of having threesomes. When asked about her own boundaries, Jackson responded, “I think whatever you're into, as long as you both are into it, it's cool.”

On whether the title of the album is a reminder to stay in control, Jackson explained saying, “I think all control really belongs to God and is truly out of our hands. It was just the title track off the album and it stood out to me...”
