Matthew McConaughey could never date a woman who tried to change him.
The 'Sahara' actor, who recently announced he was expecting his first child with girlfriend Camila Alves, is renowned for his eccentric lifestyle and insists women have to accept him for who he is.
Matthew, who was famously arrested for cannabis possession at his home in October 1999 while playing the bongos naked, said: "One woman tried to change me and she wasn't around that long! She wanted me to do some things that weren't me. There are so many things I'd never want a partner to change about themselves. Too many times you see it where people get in a relationship and one person changes the other and it doesn't work out - you lose the person you fell in love with."
The 38-year-old star, who has previously dated Penelope Cruz, Sandra Bullock and Ashley Judd, also believes it is vital to have distance and space in a relationship.
He said: "I think everyone needs personal space. People need space even when they are in the same room with someone. You've got to be alone when you're together. And when you are physically apart you've got to be happy for them and pleased about the happiness they're getting from that."
