French President Sarkozy marries Carla Bruni

Paris - French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his girlfriend, singer Carla Bruni, have married, it was confirmed Saturday by the mayor of Paris' 8th arrondissement (district) who officiated.

EPA/KHALED EL FIQI Mayor Francois Lebel told RTL broadcaster that Sarkozy and Bruni took their vows Saturday morning on the first floor of the Elysee Palace. The bride wore white and looked 'beautiful'. There was no immediate comment from Sarkozy's office. RTL said earlier Mathilde Agnostelli, spokeswoman for the luxury house Prada, had acted as witness. Sarkozy, who turned 53 on January 23, met former model Bruni a few weeks after his divorce from this second wife Cecilia last year.
