'Johansson noted the starstruck servicemen gave her keepsake patches, religious medals and fawned over the blonde, New York actress.'The writing in this article, as in most articles on this site, is just awful.
Omitting the totally irelevent fact that Scarlet is from New York, proper grammar would then be: 'Johannson said that the starstruck servicemen fawned over her, presenting keepsake patches and religious metals.' Whether she herself ever used the word 'fawned', as claimed, is another queston entirly.
