Courteney Cox insists she and husband David Arquette are happier than ever.

The former 'Friends' star, who married the actor in 1999, admits the couple have had their problems but have worked hard to overcome them.

Courteney said: "It was a matter of learning to live together and understand each other better. We're both intense and passionate people and we're both in a very chaotic and creative business with a lot of pressure to deal with. We figured out that it was a total waste of time to get angry with each other over stupid little issues.

"Now we don't brood over things. We try to solve things in a very open and caring way rather than getting angry. Basically we realised that we love each other so much that it didn't make any sense to let ourselves and our marriage get bogged down with nonsense. Now we just look at the bigger picture and things are much smoother."

Despite having a happy relationship, Courteney admits she could never work with David again because they each need their own "space".

The mother-of-one - who met David on the set of horror movie 'Scream' - explained: "It just wouldn't be a healthy thing for us to spend 24 hours a day together. We love each other very much, but we also need to spend time on our own.

"A couple needs to have their own sense of space, especially in a business as incestuous as ours."
