Britney Spears must be committed soon

Phoney British accents, public sex in a retail dressing room, deteriorating personal hygiene and grooming, and a complete lack of attention to her legal issues concerning her sons, all of these things have made people who follow the pop star's life concerned for the worst.

On CNN, TMZ.com honcho Harvey Levin discussed the allegedly "bi-polar" and "delusional" star and expressed real concern that someone needed to intervene and get her off the streets and out of the paparazzi camera crosshairs.

Now reports have hit that Spears' latest behavior happened in the middle of an upscale clothing store on January 13, where it was reported that she and her British boyfriend Adnan Ghalib went to the Betsey Johnson store at the Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks, Calif., and upset the sales clerks. 

Britney allegedly grabbed dresses from the racks and disappeared into a dressing room with Adnan. Moments later, Britney came out completely naked, reports Life & Style, interviewing the sales staff.

"I was blown away. Britney's private parts were right in front of me!" a store employee tells Life & Style.

"I grabbed a dress to cover her and she screamed, 'Get away from me! Don't you f------ come near me!' says the employee.

"Then she disappeared in the dressing room with Adnan for 45 minutes. They were making weird noises. It was disgusting."

"When Britney and Adnan stumbled out, Britney mumbled something unintelligible. "I couldn't understand a word she was saying. She was slurring and spitting, and talking with a British accent," says the employee. "Her face was covered with cold sores and acne, and her scalp was patchy. I wanted to help her, but she was so mean that I left her alone.

"Then she muttered, 'F--- you!' and left the store."

Celebrity addiction expert Dr. Drew Pinsky commented about Britney Spears' problems, saying that the pop star could die if she doesn't get the help she needs.

Although the doctor has never treated Spears personally, he told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Tuesday, "We are watching somebody who is following the Anna Nicole Smith blueprint to the letter. She's keeping people around her that allow her to keep using and that supports her denial.

"She leaves the country, like Anna Nicole, she keeps using; she doesn't follow directions of people."

According to Pinsky, California law does not force drug and alcohol users to remain in treatment long enough to get the help they need.

"You can also only be held against your will for a very short period of time and if you refuse to follow up and take treatment, you're within your right to do that - even if it's killing you. This is a serious medical problem," he said. "This young lady - she is dying in front of our eyes. She needs physician care regularly for a sustained period of time."

Pinsky, who's head of the Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Pasadena's Las Encinas Hospital and star of the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab," says he would use a treatment plan similar to one that may be helping another troubled star.
