Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt delayed the Critics Choice Awards ceremony by arriving late.

The Hollywood couple were the last to arrive on the red carpet in Santa Monica last night (07.01.08) but Angelina insisted on posing for photographs, despite Brad's reluctance.

A source said: "Angelina and Brad were the last to arrive. The organisers were shouting, 'The show is starting! Everyone has to come inside now!' But Angelina stopped to pose and answer questions.

"Brad whispered to her, 'Do you have to go do your thing?' She replied, 'Just for a minute.' "

Angelina, looking chic in a trenchcoat, was nominated for the Best Actress award for her portrayal of grieving widow Marianne Pearl in 'A Mighty Heart'.

She was consoled by a goateed Brad when she lost out to Julie Christie, who won for her role as a wife suffering from Alzheimer's in 'Away From her'.

Daniel Day-Lewis was awarded Best Actor for his new film 'There Will Be Blood' and indie-film 'Juno', about teenage-pregnancy, was named Best Comedy.

The Coen brother's new film 'No Country for Old Men' swept the board, winning Best Picture and Best Director, while Javier Bardem won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie.

George Clooney, Katie Holmes, Don Cheadle and British comedian Eddie Izzard also attended the event, as did Sean Penn, whose new film 'Into The Wild' had seven nominations.

Clooney acknowledged the on-going Hollywood writers' strike, which has led to this year's Golden Globe Awards ceremony being cancelled.

He said on stage: "When the strike happens, it's not just writers affected. Our hope is that all the players will lock themselves in a room and not come out until they finish. We want this to be done. That's the most important thing."

Clooney presented his 'Ocean's Thirteen' co-star Cheadle with the Joel Siegel Award - named after the late ABC movie critic - for his humanitarian work.

Ok, the way this story is written comes to show that everything can be twisted and turn just the way the person telling the story wants it! I red accounts from reporters on the scene of the red carpet and they said that they insisted on Angelina spending a few munites with them, the media were desperate to get a little face-to-face time with the famous couple. And Angelina could not ignore them and chose to answer a few questions about the role she was nominated for (in A Mighty Heart).

This definitely did not delay the ceremony - it went ahead as planned and Brad and Angelina had to wait until the first commercial break to be allowed inside.

I know you are trying to make any story scandalous but people are not stupid and can read everything else reported on the event! Get your facts straight!!

1. Reporters should know how to spell properly, as well as use english properly.
2. It was very rude, immature, and unprofessional to show up late for such an event. What were they thinking?

And what was anybody else thinking to stand up and defend them?

Oh please. Don't make such a big deal because they were late. You don't know what happened to them that made them arrive late. It's not like everyone has always been on time for anything. Give me a break. Give them (Angelina and Brad) a break! People just have to always make such a big stink over something so small.
