Joaquin Phoenix - © Lee Roth / RothStock / PR PhotosThe 33-year-old actor believes the Academy Awards are too political, and is convinced the winners are decided by who has the most money behind them, not the quality of the performance.He said: "The Oscars are a little bit like politics. It's the money behind you, the machine behind you, that's really effective. There are a lot of brilliant performances that don't even get a mention."Joaquin is a two-time Oscar nominee. He was up for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2001 for his performance in 'Gladiator', and was named in the Best Actor category in 2006 for his portrayal of legendary musician Johnny Cash in 'Walk the Line'.Joaquin recently admitted he hated being famous. The 'We Own the Night' actor says he wishes he wasn't a celebrity and "pities" other stars who have to put up with more attention than he does.He said: "I've been in the business since I was young but I was very naive about fame, I didn't really know what I was getting into as an actor."I think I have a fairly good level of fame, but truthfully I'd rather not have any. i agree with joaquin. the oscars is an event for actors who need to feel more secure in their fame.
