Sad, sad, sad story. Do these Spears girls think they are invincible? They must believe that having money means they can do as they please, without having to pay the piper. The only thing worse than messing up their own lives is that they are directly influencing so many young girls who look up to them. I wish they would move back to their white trash trailer and stay out of our lives!!!

The network should have made that announcement as soon as she came out with her story. It would have sent a stronger message.

Yes, this young lady is entitled to the same compassion and understanding we would provide anybody else in her awkward position. But if she is presented to our children daily as a role model and if the network grooms her with the obvious intent to create a pop star that our kids will aspire to be more like, then this is where it has to stop.
Yes, we can simply change the channel. That's precisely what we will do. We are now blocking anything Nick from our receiver. We are the prudish minority, I suppose, but if things don't get cleaned up soon we are going to go the more drastic route of cutting off TV altogether.
No matter what we do, however, all those kids whose parents do NOT turn off this garbage will still go to school and share their adoration of these cookie cutter Lolita's. It amazes me what how much peer pressure is applied during a fifteen minute school recess!
It is scary how blind this country is becoming to ever more reckless behavior and how it continues to go unchecked. I am tired of our kids being trained like Pavlov's dogs to drool over the junk these studios put out. Disney, Nick and other entertainment monoliths manufacture these stars. They are only talented in the sense they are easily coached (couched?). Please help stop this trend by preventing your kids from watching these channels!

All young kids think they are invincible and don't fully understand the consequences of their choices, that's why call it 'growing up'. I wish Nickelodeon had done or said something sooner, especially to the group of young girls that watch her show, but it's not Nickelodeon's responsibility to raise our kids. I watched TV growing up and had TV personalities that I looked up to, but they didn't yield the influence my parents yielded. If you think TV is a mess, turn it off. And if you think TV is the only place where kids learn about life...then you've never visited your kid's school, his or her friends house, or the local park/mall where they hang out. It's everywhere so it makes it that much more important that Parents show there kids the right way.

Sex education should include protection against pregnancy. Instead of talking about sex in as a normal function of human hormones, the religious nuts want to ignore normal teen urges and only teach abstinence. I feel sorry for this girl only because of all the hate she gets from the ignorant religious hypocrites. A few generations ago 16 would have been old for a girl to be pregnant. Wake up you sheep and quit following the flat landers. Nick, some integrity and show the last season. The girl is going to make a ton of money if she continues to act. Why do people believe things like this will destroy there kids? Why block it? I never blocked any of this from my kids and there all fully aware at this point of what life is about I do explain these things to them or shuld i say used to now the youngest is 16. If you shelter your kids there much more likely to get curious.
I think this is all way over blown they need to just air the show if the kids are getting there morals from t.v then there are serious issues in the home. and those not the tv show need repairing

I really hope Nickelodeon does can the show. I saw two young girls in the magazine section last night at Barnes and Noble. The first thing they did was grab a copy of the OK magazine with the Jamie Lynn pregnancy story on the cover. I kept asking myself, what are they learning from this? Are they learning that if you get pregnant at 16 you'll get all the attention in the world, including a million dollars for your story? Or are they learning that at 16 society finds this type of behavior to be unacceptable?
Until I read about the possible cancellation of her shows final episodes, I didn't see anyone standing up and publicly saying or even insinuating that her actions stand out as a horrible role model for girls her age and younger.
That said, my sister got pregnant at 16 a few decades ago. It had a huge embarrassing impact on our entire family. I was three years behind my sister in school in a very small town. I had to deal with the embarrassment of her pregnancy everyday as friends and even teachers would bring the subject up on a regular basis. There was no doubt in my mind that people saw her behaviour as inappropriate.
You know, after all is said and done, by the end of the day, the ones that are going to suffer are the children. These girls are so self centered and self absorbed, they are putting themselves before the children.
This is the 21st Century. With all of the contraceptive alternatives avaialbe, there is no excuse for getting pregnant - unless you just don't care.
We will just have to wait and see how mature Jamie really is. As with Britney, if I were the judge, after missing the last deposition, I would have had her arrested for contempt, taken a little of her freedon from her and then seen how humble she can become then.
I want the network to not only cancel her show but to stop airing any episodes whether they were programmed before she got preganant or not.
Stop airing her shows PERIOD. I want our daughters to know how seriously we take this and that society should not condone it.

Britney Spears is ill, and is more to be pitied than censured.
She's probably suffering fron bipolar disorder and god knows what all else. The worst possible things for her is her fame and money and party-girl lifestyle and all the attention that goes with them. She is generating a self-destructive negative feedback loop, the more media attention she gets, the more she acts out, drawing more media attention. The rubbernecking of the masses just feeds the flames of this human trainwreck.
The best thing for Britney would be for her to go live on some little island somewhere for a few years with some people who really have her best interests at heart, away from the media and the paparazzi and the big city nightlife and all the leeches and vampires and enablers, and get treatment for her mental illness.
Jamie Lynn is a simpler, more straightforward story. She is going through what thousands (millions?) of teen girls go through every year.
She could have quietly had an abortion, probably kept it on the QT, and kept her career, which was headed nowhere but up, with millions of dollars in front of her, low hanging fruit. She elected not to. That took guts and principals, and obviously a great many Americans will say she did the right thing under the circumstances.
Will she ever have to make a more difficult decision in her life? Will anyone? I think we can all sympathize.
While obviously what JLS is going through should not be portrayed as OK to our children, it's also important to teach she should not be hated or vilified for it.
Seize the teachable moment and explain to your 'tween age children the very serious life-altering possible consequences of engaging in sexual activity.
It's easy to hate, especially rich pop stars. We should look deeper.
Don't engage with the exploitative commercial media feeding frenzy, and be careful what we say to our kids, with the judging and hating and vilifying.
That's no better for them than being exposed to what your are damning.

Most of the trashy comments here say more about the people making them than the intended subject. As for Nickelodeon taking the advice of 'View' co-host Sherri Shepherd, the stupidest woman on television (who apparently thinks the world is flat and pronounces a certain Democratic candidate's name as 'Bobama'), by canceling 'Zoey 101' because of some imagined negative message in keeping it on, that is beyond ridiculous. Have these people watched the show? Basically, 'Zoey 101' is dumb physical comedy on the 'Gilligan's Island' level, with no message ever intended. If it makes sense to punish all the fans of a given show, not to mention the rest of its cast and the people working behind the camera, all because of the negative news stories of its star, why wasn't the same reaction given when a star did something much worse than just get pregnant? Why don't they cancel '24' after Kiefer Sutherland's arrest, not to mention my favorite show 'Lost' after half the cast was arrested on DUIs? You know the countless other examples of stars putting people in danger and it never affecting the shows they are attached to, because usually those other people have enough clout to deflect the unjust association. The other stars of 'Zoey' and its fans being kids, however, makes the difference of them being powerless to protect themselves. The networks love scandalous stars, but apparently they love picking on misfortunate little girls even more.
You really need to lay off of people in trailer parks. You know what? They have their own trailer without having to to pay a mortgage or a car payment and able to live their lives without debt on their back. Just because a couple of sluts comes from one doesn't mean everybody is like that. Just leave trailer folk alone already.

Jamie Lynn's parents are the generation of rebellious kids who were always having to follow their parents rules. Now that they are adults, they promised themselves they'd never do that to their kids - so they don't parent at all.

My first question is why are celebrities role models? They are celebrities...actors, actresses. paid enormous sums to entertain us. Parents, relatives, teachers, folks who service the community, doctors, nurses, people of faith...these are some who SHOULD be role models. No easy to flick on TV role models.
This Spears girl is very lucky that she can support a child at 16. I think it is early to have a child, but it really does beat waiting until you are 50 and have to have IVF. If you have the money and support group, I do not see anything morally wrong with this whole thing. She is not a role model, just an actress on the boob tube. Why should whoever the father is be thrown in jail. I haven't heard any women claiming the 40yo woman who got pregnant by a 11yo boy saying she should be thrown in jail, or a rapist or even that she should not have the kid and HE should. But it happens to a girl and all of a sudden its wrong for someone older to have sex with a 16yo. (whats the age of consent?)

Am I the only one here who thinks that the already-filmed 4th season of her show should air as planned? There's a lot of girls who watch that show and enjoy it, and this whole pregnancy thing is a flash in the pan. It's here now, it's news, in a few months nobody will even really remember it. Meanwhile, next year young kids could be enjoying the show. he was 11 when she first had sex with him and did she go to jail? last I heard a year after it still hadn't gone to court for sentencing. she still has the kid and if it's not a double standard why doesn't he have the kid and she isn't in jail. On the sex offenders list but still has the child? hmm, double standard as statuary rape means shes a rapist.

The punishment for all was nowhere near like what a man gets and none were done for rape or statuary rape.

I have to say, I feel sorry for the girl. I'm 16, and I cannot imagine going through what she is. I know it was a bad choice and she SHOULD have thought about all the kids that look up to her, but honestly, I really don't blame the girl. There's obviously something wrong at home, and she probably is desperate for some sort of attention since she is not getting it elsewhere. And now, her career is deteriorating and so is her life. Also, she has to deal with all these cruel comments being made about her now. I'm not a big fan of Britney or Jamie Lynn, but you know what, this is rediculous. All these immature comments on her being a hick and Louisiana is stupid. That has nothing to do with it. Her family officially sucks and she has nothing else to do in order to get the attention any girl would need. So she got desperate, its human. I think instead of ridiculing her on her homelife and JUDGING her based on her sister, whom she cannot help what she is like, we should pity these two girls whose lives are both destroyed by their parents and fame.
Why are people on this idiot's side? There's no excuse to get pregnant if you just use your brain! Either use double contraception (both partners should use something) or don't have sex. Simple. The message that she, and all other pregnant youngsters are sending out should be heard as a cry for help. Why are our kids not being schooled in the proper use of contraception? And why are so many of them deciding to not get abortions? Any other little girl would have to live on welfare since being rich is rare. This is ridiculous. Children can't take care of babies properly at such a young age, no matter how mature they are. They simply don't have the means. I'm glad they cancelled her show, we need to send a message, not a message that pregnancy is bad, but a message that stupidity is bad.
And as to the above poster who's asking why the christians are berating this little girl, calling her slut and whore, etc. when she decided to do the good thing and not abort-Because that's just the way they are. Little girls and grown women alike, along with everyone else will never do the right thing in the eyes of organized religion. There will always be something to insult others over.
We need to simply teach our kids that raising children is for adults who are settled, and able to afford it. And that having babies when you're still a baby yourself can destroy your future. Oh, and give them a triple dose of schooling in contraception along the way. You can talk to them until you're blue in the face, but the kids with the mentality of sex at a young age, are going to do it regardless of your teachings. Make sure they're protected. Maybe Nick should run a special on the subject. A special showing a little girl having to drop out of school, not being able to get a good enough job to buy diapers and clothes because she's a dropout, how not many guys in this world want a single mother as his mate, etc. Maybe it'll open some eyes.

Who cares if she's pregnant or not in any other situation, other than the people directly involved with her, but when she is a popular TV star in a program that caters to young girls, that is a whole other scenerio altogether. She has been living with her boyfriend at the age of 15/16 to begin with and is now - surprise, surprise, pregnant!! She isn't a good role model for anyone, let alone young girls. Her show should definitely be axed. Give her credit for keeping the baby or whatever, but she was stupid, immature, and fake, and clearly not responsible in the role she was given.........EOS!
I think she did the right thing choosing to keep the baby no matter the consequence. Shit happens but instead of thinking of career first, she chose to keep the baby knowing full well the ridicule she would face from the world. I would certainly hope that Nick would can her show. My daughter and many other young girls look up to the 'characters' on Disney and Nick. Nick should not run a special on sex and love. It has no place on a children's network. You ever heard of KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid). Children need to have the opportunity to be young and not be so exposed to this 'grown-up' crap. I have to agree, we can always turn off the TV and I hope many of us/you do.

I watched a marathon of all the episodes Nick was running the other day. It was a lame show. Bad acting and stupid plot lines and dumb sight gags we've seen on Nick shows 200 times since the eighties.
It really is no great loss. However it is going to be real hard for Jamie to get work now. She really has no show biz future. She should go to college now and become a lawyer or an acoountant. She'll make money she might even stay rich.

Pam, what obvious reasons are there for axing the show? How one views its harmless fiction doesn't need to be affected by what is happening with the actors in real life. There is no negative message sent by keeping this slapstick show on the air. And I'm glad to have just read that Nickelodeon has decided to air that already filmed fourth season. Depriving the fans from seeing it is an idea with no merit.
Impressionable young girls are probably the major fan base here, and they tend to get caught up in these shows as real life, and they also look up to these characters. I'm sure a lot of them have been privy to the 'news' and it takes away from this silly show now at any rate. Most parents with any sense will turn the channel anyway! Responsible parents also would not allow their young kids to get so caught up in these celebrities that they spend hundreds of dollars on tickets to see them when most of the families can ill afford it. The bottom line is responsible parenting!

Your comment to me is sad. The network of Nickelodeon has nothing to do with her pregnancy its her choices. Blocking a channel when it has nothing to do with her choices is not necessarily the correct decision. The Zoey 101 is an incident that can happen on more than just nickelodeon. The personal decisions of the star of the show should have nothing to do with how you view the network, and I feel that they are handling it the best they can. Jamie Lynn made a bad decision, and I feel bad for her, but not all the shows are bad, and most have very good lessons... thats all
