Amy Winehouse has fled to the Caribbean after being told she could not play a surprise concert for her husband in jail.
The 'Rehab' singer - who was left heartbroken when bosses at Pentonville Prison refused to let her treat husband Blake Fielder-Civil to a New Year's Eve gig - has jetted away for some much need rest and relaxation.
A source told Britain's News of the World Newspaper: "Amy was desperate to see Blake for New Year's. When she was refused she decided it was time to get away.
"She's been under so much stress recently and she really needed a break.
"Blake's situation has been driving her mad. It's going to be hard, but she's got to switch off."
Amy flew to Barbados on Friday (28.12.07) where she stayed in a three-star hotel before flying on to the private island of Mustique where friends claim she is staying at Bryan Adams' villa.
A passenger who shared the Brit Award winning singer's flight to Barbados said: "Amy was dressed in black with no make-up on and her big hair was all over the place.
"She sipped two cups of tea throughout the entire flight and didn't have a bite to eat.
"She never touched a drop of alcohol either."
Blake is on remand for charges of assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Thank God Amy took up Bryan Adams offer. Notice how all the hype has stopped. Amy you are of the elite rock and roll establishment...now... listen carefully to the guys who have gone before you. You need that advice to be able to survive your 'stardom'.
Mustique looks beautiful. I recently spent time on magnetic island in queensland australia. Very healing.
You are in this league now Amy. Stay there and stay safe.
All blessings to you and your husband.

God, I hope she gets herself straightened out-Im so afraid to check the news everyday for fear that she has finally done herself in. She is such a unique talent, not fully appreciated in the US yet, but hopefully she'll come back clean and sober, and get to work on resuming her career.
