Chris Martin has bought his loved ones vacuum cleaners for Christmas.
The Coldplay frontman - who has a three-year-old daughter Apple and 20-month-old son Moses with his actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow - did some last minute shopping at a London branch of department store John Lewis on Friday (21.12.07) where he picked up three Henry hoovers costing £100 each.
The 30-year-old singer - who is said to be worth around £30 million - revealed one of his purchases was a special gift to himself, because he is such a fan of housework.
He is quoted by Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "Some of them are gifts and one is for me.
"I love to do the housework. I don't really see the point of getting someone else to do all your day-to-day chores."
Meanwhile, it has been revealed Chris has been secretly working as a plumber for London homeless charity Crisis.
The star is said to be a "dab hand" at fixing water pipes and volunteers every Christmas to help out at the various shelters around the UK capital.
A source said: "Chris has been doing their plumbing for them. He does this every year, for free, on the quiet. Apparently he's quite a dab hand with it all."
A spokesperson for Crisis said: "We have 7000 volunteers helping at Christmas. There are celebrities among them but we can't name those who wish to remain anonymous."
