Morrissey believes immigration has destroyed Britain.

The outspoken former Smiths star claims the country has "lost its identity" and is paying an "enormous price" for the mass immigration which has taken place in recent years.

Morrissey, who now lives in Los Angeles, fumed: "The higher the influx into Britain the more the British identity disappears. The price is enormous.

"If you travel to Germany, it's still absolutely Germany. If you travel to Sweden, it still has a Swedish identity. But travel to Britain and you have no idea where you are.

"If you walk through Knightsbridge in London on any bland day of the week you won't hear a single British accent but you'll hear every other accent under the sun.

"Britain is just a distant memory now. It seems to me that our country was thrown away.

"We have said goodbye to the Britain we once knew."

The 48-year-old singer believes the British government has been irresponsible by relaxing immigration laws.

He complained in an interview with NME magazine: "You have to be sensible about things. You can't say, 'Everybody come into my house, sit on my bed, have what you like, do what you like.' It wouldn't work."

Morrissey also claims "millions" of people are deserting Britain because of immigrants.

He said: "Millions of ordinary people are leaving the UK every year because they don't recognise the place, so what I am saying is not unique. If you travel to Croatia tomorrow for instance, and walked around Zagreb hearing nothing but Dublin accents, you would find it shocking."

When confronted over the controversial nature of his comments, Morrissey insisted: "What I'm saying is not inflammatory. It is a statement of fact."

This is not the first time Morrissey has caused controversy with his outspoken views.

In 1992, he sparked outrage when supporting ska band Madness during their 'Madstock!' concert at London's Finsbury Park.

Morrissey took to the stage draped in a Union Jack flag, in front of a vocal group of far-right National Front supporters in the crowd who had embraced the flag as their emblem.

He has since come in for criticism for lyrics in his 1988 song 'Bengali In Platforms' from his first solo album 'Viva Hate', which included the lines "Oh shelve your western plans/ And understand that life is hard enough when you belong here."

Ah yes, when people speak the truth and upset the new Pharisees of the new self-righteous religion of multiculturalism and political correctness they don't like it.

So 'tough' is what we should say to them along with 'take a run and jump.'

Morrissey is 100% correct about this. The England that he, and I, grew up in has gone forever, and it isnt for the better.

His comments are just factual in nature, common sense and fully justified. It isnt 'racism' and 'hatred', people making such remarks have not got a clue what the real issues are about, or are part of an agenda such as groups and bodies that rely on race and immigration to survive and fill their pay packets.

I cant believe people are fussing about what is not only obviously true, undeniably true - even the race industry applaud how theres over 150 languages spoken in London when it suits THEM - but when Morrissey says London/England is pretty much gone and you hardly hear English accents its somehow 'racist' to mention it.

If people think Morrisseys views are shocking, they shock easily, and havent really seen anything yet compared to whats going to be coming in the future.

Such toxic, racist diatribes have no place in civilized men and civilized culture. Morrisey is just cryin foul because Blacks now dominate the music industry.

Oh! soo true......Nov 29th, 2007 - 16:33:58

racist diatribe ha!? Hasn't blacks always rule the waves, those older groups and you know who they are stole, and stole from blacks and called it their own its about time their dues are paid. Morrissey spoke the truth, how can you imprisoned someone for speaking the truth. End open immigration, they should be given only to island country under the crown.

Morrissey, although he may be a bit annoying at times, has hit the nail right on the head with this one.

We are in the midst of an anti-white, anti-Christian cultural war, but most of us haven't realised yet because we've been brainwashed.

When indigenous Europeans are a minority in Europe, you'll all wake up, and realise that you gave Europe away, for nothing but empty Utopian ideals that don't work.

Populations aren't 'replaceable'. Bringing masses of Asians and Africans into Europe won't make them European. It will make Europe into a mixed version of Asia and Africa, and last time I checked, most Asian and African countries are utter disasters. Oh, and for those who'll say that it's because of 'imperialism', not it isn't; they're disasters because of the people who live there.

Bring enough of them to Britain, and you can look forward to a Britain that looks like a mixture of Libya and Pakistan.

was good here in the USA until about 1940. The government should have locked the borders and coasts with serious armament after that.

Why not come to Canada? We don't mind. We actually sort of like it, as we accept our immigrant nation status. We could take a note or two from New Zealand in the art of Aboriginal awareness and inclusion; hopefully we'll get better at that...

Tsk tsk, too bad for Britain. Guess you shouldn't have tried to replace slavery with cheap labour, eh?

Looks good on ye...

In answer to Joey Tavares I think I would prefer to hear from the Anglo-Saxon - Celtic majority of Canada before I came to any truthful conclusion.

From here it sounds as if Canadian politicians are as treacherous as British politicians. I know for a fact that New Zealand politicians are as treacherous as the next and they don't call Clark 'Blair in a skirt' for nothing!!
