I dont wanna blame the 'victim' but he wasnt wearing a seat belt ,which is against the law in my state, and you know damn well he was probably just as hyped up about the 'race' as every body else involved.Plus Mr Hogan earned his money by taking constant abuse to his body which still plagues him to this day...I would do whatever it took to protect it from these frickin money grubbing bastard lawyers and so would you!

Wouldn't the Hogan family have insurance that would pay for this accident?
Although, maybe not the amount this person would need for care for the rest of his life. I also agree that the injured person was probably in the racing car willingly, so should shoulder part of the responsibility.

Insurance caps at a certain amount. The young man injured will need a lifetime of care, and his family has essentially 'lost' their son.
The civil suit will seek as much $ as the pockets of the responsible party - Nick's parents (he is a minor) - the divorce is timed perfectly to avoid the maximum loss to their families estate.

In my state, PA, the driver is responsible for the passenger and it the driver get penalized if the passenger does not have their seatbelt on. Nick should have to pay for what he did.

It is unfortunate for all parties involved - both boys have to accept their share of the responsibility unless the injured boy was in the car and racing against his will, which I very much doubt!

Of course, this 'divorce' was dreamed up by their CPA(s).

I wonder if they will get away with it?

Its pretty sad, actually. While Nick certainly was not in the right, John’s been known through the grapevine for racing his cars on the streets before he went into service. This seems more of a money grab by John’s parents than anything.

In fact, a search of public records in Pinellas county shows numerous unlawful speed and various other driving related citations.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel for the family and John’s going to need constant medical care but I’m shocked the family didn’t see this coming a mile away.

If it wasn’t the Hogan’s related in this, I doubt you would even see a civil suit outside of suing the insurance company.

Only in america.....Nov 28th, 2007 - 15:46:12

you got it so give it to me. Both the boys are to be blamed, seatbelt, slowdown, they were reckless why should one has to pay over the other. theyare both in the wrong. Reminds me of the first Michael Jackson accusation where the dentist father suddenly became the loving parent after abandoning him and his wife. Boy, the smell of money.....

the problem with todays society is that it is so much easier to blame someone else for your own actions , this child has a history of speeding and breakin the law , he chose to get in hat vehicle and the end results are horrible , however it is sad that he will spend the rest of his life in a nurseing home but its not hogans fault that child got in that vehicle , he was responsible for his own actions , so i hope they dont get a dime from the hogans .

I believe the Hogans were getting a divorce due to the fact he was
involved with his daughter's best friend, and refused to stop seeing her.
This was in the works long before the accidet happned.

Did that article say estranged parents??? I hope all that money that they are trying to get is ONLY for their son. Also I think because the boy was in the car WITH nick on his own accord then he should be held half responsible and the possibilites for what they should be able to get should be only half what that life planner figures. Also does this guy or his family have money???
