Vince Vaughn used to bully the "freaks" at his school.
The 'Fred Claus' star admits he was a trouble-maker in his youth and when he was put in a special class for "problem kids" he took his anger out on his new classmates.
He said: "If I disagreed with something a teacher did, I would always stand my ground and voice my opinion. That led to me being diagnosed as hyperactive. So I'd end up in those special classes with the so-called problem kids.
"At first I was very mean to those kids because I'd always been popular at school and was very big on sports and didn't want to be in groups with them. I thought of them as freaks."
But the actor soon had a change of heart and instead of picking on them he started to look after them like Jack Nicholson's character in the classic film 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest', about a prisoner who feigns mental illness to avoid jail.
He added: "After a while, I was like McMurphy in 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest'. I looked out for them because I grew to identify with them. They became my friends. Those experiences shaped me a lot."
