Sydney - Hollywood star Nicole Kidman told a Sydney court Monday that celebrity photographer Jamie Fawcett pursued her in a 'crazy' car chase.
The Australian-born actor said Fawcett had hidden outside her harbourside home and in January 2005 drove through red lights when following her on a visit to her parents' house.
Kidman said she thought Fawcett was 'trying to kill us' and the incident had led to her employing 24-hour security and giving up driving herself.
Kidman, 40, was giving evidence in a defamation case involving Fawcett and a local newspaper. Dressed in a grey skirt, cream blouse and fawn cardigan, Kidman told the court Fawcett had following her and husband Keith Urban when they were in Sydney.
She said she had been 'really, really scared' when told by her driver they were being pursued. 'He said they were driving crazy and that they had run red lights and jumped the median strip,' she said. 'I was frightened and I was worried about a car accident'.
In her statement to police in February 2005, Kidman said she rang publicist Wendy Day and told her: 'We are being pursued by Jamie Fawcett. He is at it again. I think he is trying to kill us.'
