Steve Martin was too shy to lose his virginity until he was 18.
The 'Father of the Bride' actor, who married former New Yorker journalist Anne Stringfield earlier this year, was terrified around the opposite sex until he fell in love for the first time.
Martin revealed in his autobiography 'Born Standing Up': "I was a late-blooming 18-year-old when I had my first sexual experience. It involved the virginal Stormie Shark - who I performed melodramas with - a condom and the front of my car, who windows had become befogged with desire."
Martin's confidence failed to grow when he was in his 20s and his romantic advances were often spurned by women.
He gave up trying to woo singer Linda Ronstadt when she told him: "Steve, do you often date girls and not try to sleep with them?"
The 62-year-old actor divorced his first wife, Victoria Tennant - his co-star in 'All Of Me' and 'L.A. Story' - in 1994 after eight years of marriage and went on to date actress Anne Heche.
