Amy Winehouse is "leading a double life", says her friend Sarah Harding.
The Girls Aloud star insists the 'Rehab' singer is completely different in person to the troubled Amy seen in newspapers and magazines.
Sarah said: "I don't believe everything I read about Amy. The pictures of her wearing those blood-stained shoes were very disturbing.
"I've met her a number of times, and I really like her, but from what I know of her from the papers it's like she's leading a double life. The Amy I know doesn't seem like that - she's so sweet."
Sarah, 25, understands the pressures of living in the public spotlight, and strives to keep her private and professional life separate.
She said: "Sometimes people can't deal with the pressure that's put on their shoulders. It's difficult to go from nothing overnight to that king of success. It really messes with people's heads, they lose their identity and their life.
"I like having my life outside of the band. My life in Girls Aloud is totally different from the real Sarah."
