Berlin - Former tennis star Boris Becker expressed deep concern about the way his seven-year-old daughter Anna is being shown in the media, in an interview published Wednesday.
Voicing a concern felt by many celebrities, Becker, who won the Wimbledon title three times in the 1980s, noted that while he had partial custody of his two sons, this was not the case with his daughter.
'It hurts me to the depths of my soul how my daughter has been put on show, whether in TV interviews or at child fashion shows, particularly this year,' the 39-year-old Becker told the German weekly Stern magazine.
Becker was strongly critical of the girl's mother, Angela Ermakova, with whom he had a brief fling when she was working as a waitress in London in 1999.
Becker and Ermakova, 39, have been in conflict for years over his visitation rights.
'My daughter deserves to be allowed to see her brothers and her father regularly,' Becker told Stern.
The former tennis star maintains a high public profile in Germany through advertisements and public appearances, such as at last week's MTV Europe Music Awards.
His sons Noah, 13, and Elias, 8, live with his former wife Barbara Feltus in the United States.

Further proof that women really believe they 'own' the children in relationships. They do not. Who died and gave them the right to deny a child access to their father? This is wrong and laws should be written and enforced to put a quick end to it, worldwide. In America, this sad story is just a 'walk in the park'. American women have been doing this insanity to men for the past fifty + years while the judiciary sits on their collective hands and make excuses for not pulling the plug on controlling women in this regard. In fact, it has become unfashionable in America to even consider telling a woman 'no'. How insane is that? The issues of entitlement embraced by American women is storied and well documented. Psychologists call it dysfunctional. If a man did these things to a woman, the sky would fall.
