Heather Mills wants Reese Witherspoon to play her in a movie about her life.

The 39-year-old former model, who is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with Sir Paul McCartney, has flown to the US to discuss the film and is convinced the Oscar-winning actress would be perfect for the lead role.

A source said: "She feels someone like Reese Witherspoon should play her. Heather wants an unknown to play Paul.

"Heather sees this film as the tragic and empowering story of her life. A young model who gets run over and loses her leg and marries her prince. But the most interesting part of the tale will be the dark goings on behind closed doors."

Heather, who lost her left leg below the knee after she was hit by a police motorbike in 1993, married Paul in 2002.

The pair, who have a three-year-old daughter Beatrice, split in May 2006 and are yet to agree on a divorce settlement.

Paul, 65, is anxious to hammer out the deal in private and avoid an expensive and potentially embarrassing public court hearing.

Heather is still said to be refusing to sign a confidentiality clause, preventing her from speaking about their marriage.

She arrived in New York on Friday (19.10.07) to arrange a revealing interview with US TV chat show host Larry King.

Heather is also said to be keen to appear on Oprah Winfrey's TV show and may return to 'Dancing with the Stars' as a star guest.
