Pete Doherty has banned alcohol from being served at venues for his forthcoming tour.
The Babyshambles star - who recently left rehab after a six-week stint for drink and drug addiction - is in talks to perform a series of solo concerts, and in a bid to stay clean has asked organisers to make the shows alcohol-free.
A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Pete came up with the idea. He feels like a new man. It'll be a challenge for him to go on tour without drugs.
"Everyone expects him to fall back into it but he's confident he can keep on the straight and narrow."
The rocker - who is currently staying in a country cottage with rumoured fiancée Irina Lazareanu to avoid the temptations of London - recently thanked his fans for their support during his rehab stint, assuring well-wishers he is on the road to recovery.
He said: "31 days clean and counting."
Friends of Pete also revealed he is planning on permanently moving to the countryside to avoid the temptations of city life and his old circle of friends.
One said: "Pete really wants to make a go of being clean.
"No one has seen him this healthy in a very long time - or this determined to stay that way."

true pete fans will go with or without drink and he has pleanty of them
ill gladley give up my few drinks at the venue wait till after the show and get to see a healthy pete, its so distressing to see him inchoerant and lost on stage like i saw him a year and a half ago that when i saw him sober djuring the summer it was really amazing
I am a true/loyal fan of Petes who is prepared to abstaine from alcohol at the forthcoming gigs, Id prefer if this was not the case but having paid to see him drunk/incoherent/worrying on previous occassions Id be glad to see him composed and sober.
An exceptionally talented individual and a solid band now Babyshambles.
2nd ablum maybe not just as anthemic as the previous but certainly more consistent and one which promises a future product.
Got tickets for the opening leg of the arena tour in Manchester and I truly cannot wait....

Guess he's going to have to cancel a few shows, huh? If it's a venue that serves alcohol, they're going to serve alcohol. Alot of people will want a ticket refund if they can't have a beer during the show. What's he thinking? If he's not clean yet, and the temptation is too much, either go back to re-hab or book venues that don't allow alcohol. It's just immature and umprofessional to tell the venue to change because of his personal problems.
