Reese Witherspoon divorced

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe are now officially divorced.

The Oscar-winning actress and the 'Crash' actor had their status as a married couple terminated last Friday (05.10.07), leaving them free to marry other people.

However, the couple are still to settle their finances and the custody arrangements of their two children, Ava, eight, and three-year-old Deacon.

Reese filed for divorce last November, after seven years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

The former couple - who starred in 1999's 'Cruel Intentions' together - met at Reese's 21st birthday party in 1997 and married two years later.

The 'Walk the Line' actress recently spoke of the emotional breakdown she suffered after her marriage ended.

Reese - who is said to be romantically involved with her 'Rendition' co-star Jake Gyllenhaal - said: "Right around Christmas time I was sitting in a parking lot and I felt like I just couldn't get out of the car. It was like, 'I can't get out of the car.'

"I thought, 'OK, half of the parking lot has dealt with this. More than half of the parking lot has dealt with this. OK, let's make it a little bigger. Half of this city has dealt with this. OK, let's make it a little bigger - half of this country', until I finally got out of the car."

Ryan, 33, has also spoke of his pain, describing the divorce as "the most personally devastating time in my life".
