Brad Pitt's religious rant

Brad Pitt shunned religion because "it seemed to be about ego".
The 'Ocean's Thirteen' star was brought up a Southern Baptist by his parents in Missouri, but abandoned his faith when he started college and "discovered himself".
Brad told Parade magazine: "I didn't understand this idea of a God who says, 'You have to acknowledge me. You have to say that I'm the best, and then I'll give you eternal happiness. If you won't, then you don't get it!'
"It seemed to be about ego. I can't see God operating from ego, so it made no sense to me.
"When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn't a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self."
The 43-year-old actor also revealed he finds it insulting that people think it was girlfriend Angelina Jolie who introduced him to charity work.
Brad - who founded his own organisation to rebuild homes for victims of the New Orleans disaster - said: "It's idiotic to say my relationship got me into charity work!
"I do it because I'm a member of the human race. In Africa you see people on the street dying from AIDS, children left without parents. We're all cells of one body, with the same emotions and desires for our families - for a little dignity and a chance for a better life. Let's focus on that!
"I believe in the founding principles of America. I want to fight for that. I know most Americans feel the same way.
"Whoever said all men are born equal never left his own backyard. I see people everywhere without opportunity. I want to help level the playing field."
The 'Se7en' star is now father to three adopted children, Maddox, six, Pax, three and Zahara, two as well as 16-month-old daughter Shiloh with Angelina.

Leave Brad Pitt alone, your comments are part of what he was talking about when he mentions ego. Religious zealots,(and I am sorry but you sound like one) seem to have the idea that they have all of the answers. Well you do not, most people that have evolved and are awake know that you do not need a belief in a 'GOD' to have morality or a sense of compassion. He is doing something with his wealth and helping others, what are you doing other than placating your ego offering to pray for the so called non- believers? If there were a god then that 'god' would judge you by your works, what you actually DO! Not just talk about. Brad is trying exemplify that ideal, not judge others, so go back to your bible and read the passages again, maybe you will gain wisdom, or maybe you will evolve and come to realize that we are all cells of the same body like he says and that organized religion has only weakened mankind with it's prejudice and the defensive judgments of anyone who professes to be different than the blind, superstitious, uneducated masses out there. This does not come from someone who is star struck, but I will defend anyone who is attacked by you zealots, it is time to wake up and heal the wounds created by differing beliefs and know that we are all the same whether we believe in superstitions or whether we actually see the real truth. So, stop deceiving yourself and go volunteer somewhere instead of praying.
I agree with you completely. Organized religion is only for people who feel secure in the belief that there's a 'god' watching over them. To those of us who don't believe in fairy tales, and are secure within our hearts and minds, it doesn't make any sense. And to the first poster: I don't mind that you're obviously a devout christian, but I DO mind that you dare to insult others for not believing the same as you do. It's primitive, and immature. Please refrain from such cruelty towards others because they're different than you in the future. What if you're wrong, and karma is the truth? It'll come back around to get you in the end.
One who is awake:
I do not think that your attacking someone because they do have faith was a very nice thing to do. But being that Mr. Pitt was raised in a Southern Baptist household and questioning his faith is the issue. Like aways lately, the way he stated things in his interview was not wise considering this country was mostly built upon Religion.
We all understand that there are many different religions, but they are all still based upon ' faith ' and for him to say that he does not believe in God was not the proper way.
And maybe he should not have side anything about his lack of faith in God being that this is Taboo in America, and him being so much in the public eye lately. And once again he has demonstrated that he is not a very articulate person when is comes to giving interviews. I will say that this probably come as a big surprise to his family. God Bless.

Thanks, webmaster.
One thing is for sure, you can believe what you want to but when you die hell is still a very real place & it doesn't matter if you are the richest person or the pooriest. I would hate to be wrong with eternity being the reality. God is of love he wants us to acknowledge the one who created are very being if God had such a big ego as Brad suggest then why did he give us each a will of our own to come to him willingily. If you read the word of God he wants us to be blessed by him in every way by not following the ways of the true enemy Satan. God is good, satan is bad. He is the one who feel to the earth to deceive all that he can so many will go where he is headed. In the word is says 'Do not be deceived, or coformed to this world. He has a much better place for everyone who receives him and the one he sent to saves us. That is 'Jesus'. I will pray that Brad changes his thinking, because he is too nice of a guy to be deceived by the reak enemy.

One who seeks wisdom from God not 'man'Oct 3rd, 2007 - 14:04:49
It seems God is not the one with the ego. Soooo now it is obvious Brad has both a missing sensitivity chip and lack of knowledge. If you truly know God you would truly know the fall of man was man's ego, not God's. As long as we are all seeking 'self' we just don't get what God really wants. He wants us to know of his Love, Forgiveness and concern in our lives and how he sent the most precious being in his life to save us. Watched him suffer so we would not, and that wasn't at the hands of a bunch of paparazi's taking pics. So 'brad', and I spelled that with a lower 'b' for a reason, compared to God you are insignificant and that just must really bother you. With 'God', not 'brad' all things are possible and life does have purpose, you don't have to search for it, it finds you and you don't worry if everyone else knows wether it came from you, Angie or God. Well being praying for you cause you are a mess.
